Chocolate Date Truffles

Soft , gooey, healthy Chocolate Date Truffles are full of energy, healthy fats,vitamin E, folate, Calcium, Iron and antioxidants. These truffles are full of surprises as you can make them of so many different flavors and colors and can be enjoyed as a perfect in between snack without any guilt of having extra sugar or calories.

Ingredients for the Energy balls

  • 2 cups (350 gms)soft pitted dates
  • 1/4 cup (50 gms)dark chocolate
  • 1/2 cup (50 gms)mix nuts
  • Juice and zest of one orange
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla essence
  • Pinch of salt

Ingredients for the coatings

  • Roasted sesame seeds
  • Chocolate shavings
  • Melted chocolate
  • Chopped nuts
  • Grated fresh coconut
  • Raw cocoa powder
  • Desiccated coconut

Method

Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit/ 175 degrees centigrade. Place nuts in a baking sheet and roast them for 10 mins until golden. Then add them in to a blender and grind for two to three mixes or until chopped. Donot over mix it. Remove in a bowl and keep it aside. Mix pitted dates and orange juice in a blender and blend till the mixture becomes creamy.Transfer in a bowl and then add the nuts, vanilla essence, salt and the orange zest and mix well.

Melt the dark chocolate in a double boiler and add it in to the date mixture and mix well. Keep the mixture in to the refrigerator for a couple of hours or until the mixture is firm enough to form balls. Grease your hands with some ghee and take a tsp of the filling in your hand and roll it in to perfect round size Truffles.

Coat them in to your favorite toppings and Enjoy. They keep best in the fridge so make sure to store them in the refrigerator before you need them.
